In January of 2024 Google updated the Chrome browser in version 121 to block 3rd party cookies by default. Unfortunately, these changes to how cookies are handled will impact our LMS integrations.
Note: For users who have not received the update yet, please enable third party cookies following the instructions in this article.
Please follow the instructions below if the Nearpod sign-in is not working for teachers or students through the Nearpod LMS integration.
Please note, the flow we describe below will not happen every sign-in but could happen every 30 days if no activity is detected within that period.
Cookies are used in our LMS integrations to provide a seamless experience between the tools to ensure the learning experience can be impactful and uninterrupted for student success.
Oops! It looks like your browser is blocking cookies for Nearpod
If launching Nearpod from the LMS shows this page, please complete the following steps.
Steps:
- On the screen, click on “Allow Cookies”.
- A browser notification window should appear, click on “Allow”
- The browser should refresh, a second attempt at logging in may be needed. Some may go straight to their Nearpod account.
If “Block” is clicked, please follow the instructions below.
Steps:
- With cookies blocked, the Nearpod page requesting cookie access will appear (screenshot of the screen is above)
- In Chrome, select the ‘site information’ button to the far left in the URL dialog box or select the ‘embedded content’ button to the far right of the URL dialog box.
- Once the settings are changed, click the ‘Allow Cookies’ button or refresh the browser page. Some may have to sign-in again, others may go straight to their Nearpod account.
Oh no! We are experiencing an error getting to Nearpod from the LMS. Please try refreshing the page.
If this screen appears, please first try refreshing the page. This issue may resolve itself with a browser refresh or closing out other windows that may contain Nearpod. If this page continues for you, please contact Nearpod support by email or chat.
If the browser notification window doesn’t appear...
In the case where the notification doesn’t appear after you click on “Allow Cookies”, please follow this steps:
- Go to https://nearpod.com/ in a separate window.
- Click on anything inside the page.
- Go back to Nearpod inside your LMS and click on the “Allow Cookies” button.
