Quizzes are a new part of the Nearpod lesson experience that allows teachers to mix, match, and combine Nearpod’s formative activities and question types into a single streamlined assessment. Teachers can add a timer, set the Quiz to automatically change over to student-paced mode during a live lesson, and gain an aggregate bird’s-eye view of their students’ understanding during the lesson.
With Nearpod’s new Quiz feature, teachers can:
- Quickly assess student learning in real time to tailor teaching to support student needs
- Group multiple activities into a single assessment
- Add a timer to cover the entire assessment
In this article, you’ll learn how to:
- Create a Quiz
- Add activities to a Quiz
- Access the student progress dashboard
Create a Quiz
A Quiz can be created from the Lesson Builder in four ways:
Option 1: Start a new lesson and click the "Create a Quiz" button on the Lesson Builder.
Option 2: Click the arrow next to the "Add new" button at the top of the sidebar, then select "Add Quiz.”
Option 3: Select the "Quiz" option from the Activity/Content menu:
Option 4: Group existing slides into a Quiz by selecting slides in the sidebar and using the right-click, select the option for "Convert to Quiz."
Add Activities to a Quiz
Once you have created a Quiz, you can add blank activities from Quiz Activities in the right-hand pop-out drawer.
Adding an activity drops it into the Quiz screen, so you can add any number of empty activities before editing individual activities. Then, you double-click into an activity or navigate to it in the sidebar to go into the editing view.
Once in an activity Edit view, you can either complete the activity with your own content or select activities from activity banks where available. If Activity Banks are available, you will see a green icon in the right-hand pop-out drawer labeled “Activity Banks” that will allow you to search from over 2000 pre-made activities to add to your Quiz.
While Quizzes are a new feature, nothing has changed about editing individual activities inside of a Quiz. All activities work the same as they would on a regular activity slide.
Create Multiple-Choice Questions with AI
Additionally, you can use Nearpod's AI Create tool to quickly generate multiple-choice questions on any topic and add them to your Quiz! See AI Create article for detailed instructions.
Access the Student Progress Dashboard
You can access the student progress dashboard once the Quiz is completed by clicking the “View Progress” button at the top right of the Quiz, or by clicking on the “Quiz” tile in the slide carousel at the bottom of the teacher screen.
